About Rémi Gaillard

Some General info on the famous Frenchman ...

Rémi Gaillard (born 7 February 1975 in Montpellier, France) is a French prankster. He gained attention in the French media after performing a well-documented series of pranks, including a famous appearance disguised as a Lorient football player in the 2002 Coupe de France final match, during which he took part in the winner's celebrations and was even greeted by the then president of France Jacques Chirac. Gaillard has appeared in several sport events, TV game shows and political rallies, normally breaking the security measures easily. He has been arrested many times for his acts.
According to an interview, Gaillard started his pranks after losing his job at a shoe store. He allegedly began to use his free time to "have fun".
Gaillard is known for his football skills, which is displayed in a compilation series his friend filmed.
Gaillard's motto is "C'est en faisant n'importe quoi qu'on devient n'importe qui" in translation: "It's by doing whatever that you become whoever", by which he explains the reason for his behavior. He became famous through his YouTube-channel, on which most of his videos can be found.

Some examples

Here are some examples of what Gaillard does for his sketches. Most of the time, he has done solo pranks but more recently, has used the help of his friends to create flashmobs or participates in his pranks. A majority of Remi's videos are filmed by his good friend Gregory Laffargue.
Grand Prix
With a Grand Prix racecar, Remi races down the road against unsuspecting drivers.
Tarzan
Dressed as Tarzan, Remi goes into a zoo and climbs a display. He then screams on the top of his lungs and his friends dressed as various animals flashmob the zoo.
La Tour N'importe Qui
On a nice sunny day at the Saint Loup Mountain Peak, Remi and his friends trick any regular Sunday cyclist that they are part of the Tour de France. This includes a fake security detail, fancar, and a huge wild crowd to help recreate a Tour de France scene.
Roxanne
While listening to the song "Roxanne" by The Police in soundproof headphones, Remi heads into a grocery store. Heading to the information desk, he hijacks the intercom and screams the lyrics out of tune before getting pulled out by security.
N'importe Qui Fiesta!
On a bus full of fans and friends, Remi calls a party store in Beziers and asks them if they're "a store to make parties"(it's actually a French wordplay). When the store employee replies him that they are, Remi and his friends cheer. Moments later, they enter and trash the store using silly spray, confetti, and loud music to literally party in a party store. This makes the employees extremely angry at Remi and his friends for the mess and get even more angry when they see that Remi's crew is still partying in the parking lot.
La Chef Remi
Remi in a complete chef attire, heads into a swimming pool and dumps raw fish into a heated jacuzzi with people inside it.
RemiKart
As a tribute to Mario, Remi uses a Go Kart to race around Montpellier. He pretends that normal cars are rival racers and uses some of the game moves (dumping bananas on the road) making drivers mad.
Elevator Pranks
In his apartment, Remi dresses up elevators for his own convenience surprising many people. His themes have included: a cocktail bar, Hawaiian, hanging upside-down in a bat costume, hunting, restaurant, Rastafarian, etc.
Urban Rodeos
Orangina has hired Remi to do a couple of stunts that they are not willing to do themselves in their commercials. Dressed up as a cowboy and armed with Orangina bottles, Remi hops on anyone's back to see how long he can stay on for before falling off. He runs off yelling 'CASSOS' each time!
Big Fun In Little Billington
Remi recreates the Bedfordshire village of Little Billington inside a branch of Toys R Us, and then spreads honey over everyone who complains this is obstructing their shopping trip.
Hall Of Fame Within Five Years
Remi enters a DIY store and asks for objects that don't exist, such as Dr Pepper with cow's blood inside of it or a knife that can cut water into bits.
Crank Dat Remi Boy
Remi goes an entire day without eating omlettes. At the stroke of midnight, he eats an omlette. Although not mentioned on TV, the omlette was cooked by none other than former Fame Academy superstar Alex Parks.
Kite Mark
Remi goes injecting moulding, but in a mad way.
Nonsense swimming
In some videos, Remi swims in completely random areas. This includes a garden center's pool, and a city fountain.
War
Remi dresses up as a French Army trooper and assaults a beach a la the invasion of Normandy and disturbs some golfers with his smoke grenades.
The Sports imposter
Remi dresses up as any team member of any sport (soccer, tennis, football) and attempts to participate in victory celebrations or the game itself. In some cases, security does not know and Remi ends up being recognized like other team members, in some other cases, he is caught and removed from the game.
Rocky series
Remi or the 'French Rocky' does his best to train like his American counterpart. He runs on a store conveyor belt, runs on a treadmill in the middle of a park trail, works out in the middle of the street on a stationary bicycle (holding up the traffic behind him in the process), punches meat in a boucherie without authorization, swims in a city fountain, and snatches drinks out of people's hands while running. In some instances, Remi angers a person who had their drink snatched and causes them to chase after him. In one particular incident, Remi runs past some men fixing a car and snatches their huge mineral water bottle. After spilling its contents on his head, Remi supposedly provokes them even more by saying inaudible things causing some of the men to chase him. The rest see Gregory Laffargue (who was filming nearby) and chase him too.
Pac-Man
Remy and an accomplice dress up as Pac-Man characters and chase each other through a supermarket, billiard club, and golf terrain. Remi is Pac-Man and tries to gobble up pool and golf balls.[2]

Sketches

The majority of Gaillard's sketches are of the hidden camera type, in which the antagonist performs an unexpected or surprising action to elicit humorous responses from the bewildered witnesses. Gaillard often disguises himself for these sketches. His pranks can also be regarded as an act of exhibitionism, especially when posing as a member of a sports team. During some pranks, Gaillard is accompanied by a crowd of friends, giving the action a flashmob-like nature. Some other videos may feature acrobatics like aiming soccer balls at distant goal-like objects, or more still aim to antagonize police forces he interacts with during his sketches.
Gaillard also appeared in an Orangina commercial.[citation needed]
